A. I am the same age as you and am the exact same way and have the exact same problem. I spend my spare time in my phonebook under theaters, or I mapquest with my starting address and then type in theaters-live in the end place box and it will bring up locations with there phone#s and call and ask if they are having any auditions they need my age group for. The rest of my life is for school and practicing!

Does anybody know how to get into the show biz?
Q. Im think about trying to chase an acting career whats the easiest and best way to get into acting?
Asked by Anthony Wallace - Sat Jun 4 02:12:26 2011 - Reality Television - 2 Answers - Comments
A. Well you need to live in the San Fernando valley because that is where all the filming take part or the main studios are located. Then just meet people around most of the people that live here are in the entertainment industry you need to network and just to try to find places where they are looking for open casting. Their are also places in Burbank where they have open casting every week just to become an extra but I forgot what the company is called. Good Luck

I really want to be in show biz or in modeling do i have to pay up front or what do i have to do?
Q. What is the first thing to be in show biz?
Asked by X-Mas at my mommas house - Wed Mar 11 01:48:01 2009 - Other - Careers & Employment - 2 Answers - 1 Comments
A. Get yourself an agent for modelling. Call reputable agencies to see if they will see you. They will probably ask you to email them a few polaroids i.e photos with minimal makeup up of face front on and full length shot in swimwear or lingerie. No funny myspace type camera angles or kissy faces! You will need to pay upfront for the agencies photographer to produce a portfolio for you and comp cards so that you can take them to castings. To be in showbiz you should study drama. Usually someone goes to drama schools to scout for new talent. Your modelling agency will not just send you to modelling jobs they will also send you to casting agencies for film, tv etc. Keep fit and promote yourself. Personality is just as important as looks!

Who is the craziest, most eccentric person in show-biz, that rocks your world?
Q. There are a lot of celebrities out there that are very plain, laid back, and relaxed, like Kate Moss, Paul Mc Cartney, Tom Hanks, Wayne Newton, just to name a few, and then there are those who live outside of that acting box, who put a kink in the chain of entertainment, such as; Adam Sandler, Paris Hilton, Martian Sheen, and Eddy Murphy. I have nothing against any Thespians, but rather would like to know which one's character just makes your world that much better.

A. P!nk. she's not in movies, she's a singer, which i think is alright but if not just ignore me. it cracks me up about how she can do anything and get away with it. And katy Perry, i can't tell... Ur so gay made me laugh for 3 minutes straight, maybe that's cause my ex had just emailed me with a stupid comment about life, but yeah. I love how open she is about anything, *is a supporter but is not gay* I'm not a rocker person, and in movies, anyone who is good at making me laugh, which makes me think of Dane cook. yes, i choose Dane cook. he's in movies and he's on itunes, and You Tube. a good compromise. I hope you enjoyed this rant. thank you for making me think today, something my homework failed miserably at.

Why is it that people expect me to be so interested in what show biz personalities are doing?
Q. I don't care what Britney Spears or her gigolo ex-husband are doing and I haven't been to the theatre in years because motion pictures have become so lame, but many people expect everyone to know what show biz people are doing. Why should I care what they are doing? I have my own life, family and friends to worry about.

A. Lonely people with no life of their own spend $billions$ every year on tabloid magazines. As long as people keep buying them the entertainment industry will think everyone is interested.

How can a person break into show biz nowadays? If you are going to say acting schools, which do you recommend?
Q. and why that school? Do you have any personal experience in the business? Is it as difficult a business to get into as they say? I am older than 17. I have a very nice singing voice. I think I can carry a tune very well. I also can project my voice and was told by someone that I am very animated!
Asked by joan t - Mon May 25 17:54:38 2009 - Theater & Acting - 3 Answers - Comments
A. You do that by being very very talented, by haveing lots of acting experience, by taking a couple of classes (going to an acting school is unnecessary and overly expensive), and by learning how to deal with the business of becoming an actor.

Attention Casting Directors and People in the show biz industry!?
Q. Can any casting directors or agents help me find roles on shows and or movies because it has always been my dream job and if I do say so myself I do have some talent of singing and am currently taking acting lessons. I am ten years old going on 11 and would like to be acting on Disney. If you have any advice or experience please answer...thank you so much!
Asked by Future Singer/Actress - Thu Jun 18 19:26:05 2009 - Theater & Acting - 5 Answers - Comments
A. Any "agent" or "casting director" who gets in touch with you through a post here is bound to be a sleazebag scam artist. It's unrealistic to expect that you can jump from where you are now straight into a movie or TV role. If you're serious about wanting to lay the foundations for a future showbiz career, you should stick with your acting lessons and get as much experience as you possibly can in plays at your school and at community theatres, summer theatres, and such in your area. In acting as in lots of other professions, you have to start small and work your way up.

Need some tips on breaking into Show biz?
Q. I'm a senior in high school right now and I take theater arts as a class, and I am in the school play, what I am asking is should I continue to do plays around my area or should I move to a place like NYC or LA after high school. Any advice is well appreciated
Asked by B@M-B@M - Sat Nov 8 14:50:35 2008 - Theater & Acting - 1 Answers - Comments
A. I would suggest moving to NYC for theater and soap operas and LA for film and tv, but only if you have a lot of other experience and a way to support yourself. You will need to go on a lot of auditions, so it is hard to have a job, but it is expensive to live in those areas. You will have to get an agent and be able to get ready in a minute to leave for an audition at any time! You will need a way for money because people go on many auditions before they even get a job in a commercial or as an extra. Maybe you could go to college for something else and minor in theater arts. Good luck and hope I helped =)

The entertainment industry (also informally known as show business or show biz) consists of a large number of sub-industries devoted to entertainment.
